The creation of the South African edition of the renowned Colin Drury textbook for management accounting represents a collaborative endeavour enriched by the contributions of lecturers from various South African universities, embarked on the mission to tailor this textbook to the needs and contexts of South African students.
The textbook resonates with students across the country, making it a prescribed text for Management Accounting 278, 378 and 771 at Stellenbosch University and various other universities in SA from 2024 onwards. This collaborative effort stands as a testament to the commitment of South African academia in providing top-tier educational resources tailored to the local academic landscape.
Research in management accounting teaching tools
Bishop WA. (2019). – Published article. The development of management accounting skills in situations where practical exposure is limited: The perceptions of training officers in South Africa. South African Journal of Higher Education
- The study revealed that training offices perceive simulation (a visualised teaching form) to be a useful teaching tool to use in the assessment of competency in management accounting residual skills areas. – From my reflection on these research findings, I realised the importance of visualisation of practical scenarios as part of my teaching philosophy.
